At Popcorn, we love Bert & May and really enjoyed visiting their hackney warehouse. The design visionaries are establishing themselves as the go-to brand for anybody who has a true love of spaces & materials. Their iconic range of reclaimed wood and bold encaustic tiles is already a success, having been chosen by the interior designers of Soho House or collaborating with Jasper Conran.
But that was not enough, and they are now expanding into… barges! We had the opportunity to visit their stand on the Clerkenwell design week. Have you ever seen a boat standing in the middle of St John’s Square? We did.
The “City Barge” number 1 is a slick, spacious and full of light barge. Entirely designed, engineered and decorated by their team. When you see “Things I learned from my life so far” by Stefan Seigmaster on the shelves, you know they are doing something right. The rooftop has a folding balcony system so you can cruise under the canal bridges and fully enjoy your terrace when mooring. Inside, their trademark materials give it an edgy and luxurious feel, yet super cosy.
