Today, the Royal Mail released a series of stamps entitled ‘British Auto Legends‘. The collection consists of six, classic British cars: A 1961 Jaguar E-Type, 1965 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and 1963 Aston Martin appear on first-class stamps, while a 1962 MG, 1968 Morgan and 1976 Lotus Esprit are featured on £1.28 stamps
The privately owned vehicles were tracked down by Royal Mail and photographed by acclaimed, specialist car photographer James Mann, highlighting the best in British motor car manufacturing in the 1960s and 1970s. It comes 150 years after the birth of Sir Henry Royce, who founded Rolls-Royce alongside Charles Stewart Rolls, and the centenary of the founding of Aston Martin.
The release goes alongside four British ‘workhorses’, the iconic Royal Mail Morris Minor van, Austin FX4 London taxi, Ford Anglia police car and Coastguard Land Rover.
